The company claims that patented reVend® machine is the first domestic light bulb reverse vending recycling machine of its type in the world. It has been jointly designed and developed by Revend Recycling Ltd and Repant ASA, a corporation listed on the Norwegian Stock Exchange. Revend Recycling will sell and market the reverse vending recycling machines while Repant will manufacture and assemble them.
The light bulb recycling machine has an add-on unit, as an option, for the collection and recycling of domestic batteries. The company hopes it will help meet increasing demand for light bulb recycling due to the international change over to CFL (long life – low energy) and LED domestic light bulbs and European recycling targets for domestic batteries.
Revend Recycling recently concluded a supply agreement with furniture giant IKEA and said it would install a significant number of machines in several IKEA stores throughout Europe, including the UK, Germany, & Denmark. IKEA was first to install the light bulb reverse vending recycling technology in its stores in Wembley and Wednesbury, West Midlands.
